Milling
This mill‘s POME system is land disposal. The treated POME normally having a pH of 8 and BOD below 1,000 is transfer via a centrifugal pump in 6in HDPE pipes for a distance of 2 to 3 km for disposal in their estate. Over 4-5years, the flow rate of 60m3/Hr has dropped drastically and upon checking the pipes, found excessive crystallisation in the 6in HDPE pipes reducing the effective diameter to less than 6in. The pipe surface became very rough. This has grossly worsen the piping system curve resulting in lower Flowrate.
I am seeking member’s advice and help:
1. How to effectively clean these pipes to restore back its original diameter?
2. How to prevent or minimise the formation or built-up of this struvite crystallisation?
3. Is replacement of the pipes the ONLY solution?
All advice and comments would be highly appreciated.
Thank you.
