Normally water tube boiler will have this dry ash accumulate at the bottom of furnace. However, we have difficulties on the clearing work as sometime the ash was too accumulated and the restriction of area cause difficulties on the clearing ash and also for maintenance job. Any suggestion or idea on making easy during work at this area (example: tools, equipment, modification, etc.). Thank you.
Boiler Ash Clearing Based on the above picture allow me to offer my conceptual suggestions. As stated clearing of boiler ashes is both labour and time intensive, therefore look into mechanical means of doing it or doing parts of it. The headroom of boiler furnace does not permit installation of conveyors below furnace floor, I therefore suggest to break down the tasks of ash clearing as follows, 1) dragging ash out from boiler 2) shovel the ash manually onto wheel barrow 3) push the loaded wheel barrow to designated place. 4) unloaded the boiler ash and return to the original place 5) the tasks are repeated. Please consider to replace tasks 3 & 4 with conveyor with elevated high and discharge into trailer. The picture indicated to me that there are sands and probably fine stones present in your boiler ashes. If so, most likely come from wet shells. You may consider to install semi auto pneumatic operated sliding doors so as to regulate the feeds of biomass. The aim is to reduce the ratio of biomass burnt to ashes produced. 1) burnt all the fibre. 2) if boiler pressure dropped, pneumatic sliding door open the dry shells. 3) if boiler pressure further dropped, then only the wet shells pneumatic regulated sliding door open. The conceptual suggestions here are 1) due to constraints, conveyors can only part of the job ( if layout permits) 2) reduce the wet shells input so as to reduce the ratio of ash to biomass. Thanks.
